Information

Wat Chiang Man was established by the city's founder, King Mengrai, some 700 years ago. It is relatively small and not on the main tourist routes. There small buildings display typical Northern decor of gold leaf of red lacquer and coloured mirrors. There is a Buddha image of marble from Sri Lanka 2,000 years ago, and another of crystal from Lopburi, said to be 1,800 years old.
