Information
The Bangkok Mass Transit System (known as the "skytrain") began service on December 5, 1999. Since that time, the BTS has become a public transportation option for hundreds of thousands of commuters throughout all of Bangkok and the surrounding provinces. Currently there are two main skytrain routes, the Silom Line and the Sukhumvit Line. Between the two lines, much of central Bangkok and the commercial, residential and tourist areas are covered. The trains run daily from 6:00 am until 12:00 midnight. Service is increased during rush hours. The fare is based on the distance travelled. Each train can carry over 1,000 passengers.
