Information
Situated in the west of the city, this pagoda is a memorial to Somdet Phra Suriyothai, the royal consort of Phra Mahachakkaraphat. When the Burmese invaded Thailand in 1548, Somdet Phra Suriyothai, clad in a warrior's suit, tried to prevent her husband from being killed, being cut down herself in the process. Her heroic deed saved the city from another by the Burmese.
