Information
The Chulachomklao Fortress is situated at the mouth of Chao Phraya River. The fortress is a modern fortress and played an important role in protecting the sovereignty of Thailand in 1893. King Rama V ordered the fortresses at the river's mouth be renovated and re-equipped, so that they could be used in the case of an invasion by the British or French who were looking to expand their colonial territories.
