Songkhla's City Pillar is highly revered by the local residents. It was constructed at the same time the city was built. This is significant due to the evident distinctive Chinese lifestyle and influence in the area as a result of the presence of Chinese immigrants, who came to settle in Songkhla at the beginning of the 24th Buddhist Century and had a pivotal role in the establishment of Songkhla.
