Information
This sandstone range can be seen from a distance, and is quite distinct, consisting of two hills, Phu Thok Yai and Phu Thok Noi. At the base of Phu Thok Noi visitors will find the Chetiya Khiri Wihan temple, which is a meditation centre. The temple is also the starting point of a walk up to the top of Phu Thok, via a wooden bridge winding around the steep mountain. The bridge was built by monks, novices and villagers, and took five years to complete. This bridge is compared to a path of virtue that leads a righteous man to leave the world and enter into emancipation by his own efforts and determination. The climb to the top can be quite harrowing for those afraid of heights as the path is narrow and is hacked into the side of the mountain.
