Chiang Mai Gate Hotel is situated in the prime location of Chiang Mai - the Wua Lai Community, an old silverware manufacturing community where the fascinating lifestyle and activities of the locals can be discovered and experienced. Here you can find affordable ancient and modern silverware that come in various decorative designs.
The hotel is conveniently located on Suriyarong Road, only about 200 meters from Chiang Mai Gate and the heart of the old city- 5 min. drive from Chiang Mai Airport and 10 min. drive from the Night Bazaar. Yet, it is in a quiet area where guests can feel fully relaxed. Furthermore, the location is easily linked to shopping malls, middle ring and outer ring roads. Chiang Mai Gate Hotel is provides nicely decorated accommodations in the traditional Lanna Thai style. Clean and comfortable all air-conditioned rooms with full facilities.

The Hotel is located near Chiang Mai Gate, where there are a lot of local food stalls on the streets at night. However, the road from the hotel to the main steet is about 7 mins walk, but it is dark at night, I don t feel safe to walk at night. The hotel room itself is good, but there is no hot water for shower in the late evening. The hotel can be better if they can replace the old towels as well. The people are helpful and price is ok.

A fine hotel and well placed if you want to stay close to the center and still have some peace and quiet. Good breakfast. Nice staff. Super cleaning. New sheets every day!!! Only downside was that we had no balcony, so the room was a little dark. Totally recoendable.

I found it to be good value for money. We had the standard room with balcony. Breakfast average. Small but nice swimmingpool. Too far to walk to the night market area, but 60 bath will take you there in five minutes with a tuk-tuk. 3 mins walk to the moat and the saturday market.

There are three important temples which were at the centre of the local peoples' spiritual needs. Wat Sri Suphan, joined by Wat Tat Kam and Wat Nantaram have developed a community awareness program which is the rejuvenation of the silver crafting industry of the Wua Lai Community. Many of the traditional art can also be easily found in these three temples, since the traditional art and local knowledge were perpetuated from generation to generation up until nowadays through faith the residents have for the temples. The professional artisans of various art types in the community usually dedicated their work to the local temples so as to promote local knowledge, produce art to contribute to Lanna, develop cultural tourist attractions, and as merit making. |
