Traditional boat races in Nan

Nan province, Muang Nan Municipality, Racing Boats Association of Nan, the Thai Health Promotion Foundation and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will host the annual traditional boat races from Saturday until Nov 11 on the Nan River near Pattana Phak Nua Bridge in Muang district. 

The opening matches will be held during this weekend and the semi-finals and final during November 9-11. The race contestants are classified into three categories _ large, medium and small boats. The starting point is the Pattana Phak Nua Bridge.

Winners will receive trophies granted by HM the King, HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn and HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The team with the most beautiful boat will win HRH Princess Soamsawali's trophy, and the best cheerleading team will receive HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha's trophy. There will also be food, non-alcoholic drinks and local products for sale.
