Thailand on course to reach this year's visitor target

The upcoming election will have a positive impact on the tourism industry, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) governor, Suraphon Svetasreni.

As long as there is no violence, the TAT expects that the country could achieve its international visitor target of 16.5 million this year.

According to figures from the Tourism and Sports Ministry, the total number of tourist arrivals during the first five months is about half the target.
