Nakhon Pathom is only a short drive from Bangkok, but the contrast between the two couldn't be more glaring, which is precisely why it has been experiencing a tourist revival of late, with Bangkokians travelling there in ever greater numbers to escape the grind of city life and embrace the quietude of this riverside province.

Thana market in Nakhon Chaisi district is experiencing a revival.

They are particularly attracted to the main town area redolent with atmosphere of yesteryear, friendly people and there is plenty in store for visitors eager to explore, as I found on a recent trip.
