The highland of Chiang Rai is a popular destination during the cold weather, with many tourists expecting to see a sea of mist when they visit mountain routes in this northernmost province.

Popular attractions include Phu Chi Fah and Doi Pha Tang where you can trek to the peaks to enjoy views of the mist or admire the Mekong River snaking though the valley below. Lesser-known spots, such as Doi Kad Phi and Phu Long Tang, offer a panoramic view of the mountain ranges of the north.
