Local department store offers a shopping trip down memory lane

With its bizarre appearance, the building housing the Nightingale-Olympic store in Phahurat shows its age. The out-of-date fashion on display in the windows and a lack of air-conditioning inside might scare some customers away, but do not judge this book by its cover.

A red guitar with the autographs of all four members of The Beatles; golf clubs are also sold in shop’s sports section; one of the old mannequins which has stood inside the shop for decades; the distinctive exterior of the Nightingale-Olympic shop.

The shop is a pioneer among other department stores in the area and this year marks its 82nd year in operation, perhaps making it one of the longest-running department stores which still opens its doors for customers.
