New track sends Hua Hin downhill

I went to Hua Hin again last Saturday. And like my two previous trips there, the beach and those hip restaurants and fashion outlets that the seaside resort town is famous for were not included in the itinerary.

No time for that stuff. I was there for some gravity-assisted, adrenaline-pumping fun!

I had been looking forward to this visit since mid-February when I heard from fellow downhill mountain bikers there that they were building a new track on Khao Hin Lek Fai, the hill that straddles the west side of Hua Hin downtown. Known as the "Upper Trail", this brand-new DH option starts further up the same peak as the "Chep Phak" track, and it's not as scary as the ICU trail on the adjacent peak which was featured in this column last October.
