Inle Lake is not the most marvellous in Myanmar, but the unique lifestyles of the people living in the area make it truly fascinating. 

- A Shan lady carries flowers to the market. 
- Fabric can be made, with great effort, from thin lotus fibres. 
- Gold leaf-covered Buddha images at Phaung Daw Oo temple.

A woman chops lotus stems, then splits them a few centimetres apart. Very thin fibres appear. She rolls them to make a thread, centimetre by centimetre. Each day, she can produce few metres of lotus-fibre thread.
