SPOTLIGHT
While going to the beach often means wading into the ocean with all your clothes on (for Thais) or laying on the sand till you resemble a bright red chilli pepper (for tourists), the recently opened ibis Hua Hin is perfectly situated for vacationers who want to explore the seaside town.
The six-storey hotel has 200 rooms, five of which are suites. Given that I'm used to the finer things in life, I of course opted to stay in a suite (from B3,342 per night). Designed for four people, the comfy surroundings include a living room where you and your entourage can play cards, drinking games, or watch lakorn together. Each of the two individual bedrooms has its own wall-mounted TV, small en suite bathroom and a tiny balcony.
The well-designed bedroom is compact but has everything a normal person needs, such as a minibar and adequate-sized closet (you're not moving in after all). You should be fine unless you're a high-maintenance khun noo expecting to have your own personal servant waiting under the bed.
