No snacking in Rome's ruins

Rome has joined other celebrated tourist spots in Italy by banning the eating of snack foods by people visiting historical places around the ancient city.

The Daily Telegraph reported that starting this Tuesday, a new law issued by the Rome City Council bans people from eating the likes of sandwiches, pizza, panini, gelato and other snacks at many of the city's monuments and architectural treasures.

The penalty for breaking the law, a fine of between 25 and 500 euros.
