Singapore ousts Bangkok as Asia's top meeting destination

Singapore has supplanted Bangkok as Asia's Leading Meetings & Conference Destination, it was announced at the recent World Travel Awards 2012.
Bangkok was in contention against nine other cities when it won the award last year. Singapore was also declared Asia's Leading City Break Destination this year.
The awards, instituted in 1993, recognise outstanding destinations across all sectors of the tourism industry, and invite people to nominate destinations and vote online. Presented in about 80 categories, the awards cover destinations in Asia, Europe and the Indian Ocean.
