China, Japan and Korea are among the top destinations Thais want to go if they get the opportunity to travel abroad, according to a recent survey of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).
Conducted by the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce from Feb 4-8, the survey had 1,200 respondents _ 33% of them living in the Northeast, about 18% each from the central region, Bangkok and the North, with 14% from the South. One third of them work in private companies, 18% are undergraduate students and the rest are business owners, workers, civil servants, farmers and unemployed.
Almost half of them want to travel abroad in order to experience new things and to learn about different cultures, while 14% said they would not go to other countries because of the cost, wanting to save money and preferring to travel within the Kingdom.
