2019 Mazda 3: Thai prices and specs

Like before, Mazda's latest compact family car comes in both hatchback and sedan body styles.

Mazda Sales Thailand has introduced the all-new 3 compact family car shortly after the latest generation of the Toyota Corolla Altis made its Thai debut earlier this month.

Available in both four-door sedan and five-door hatchback body styles, the 3 comes with the same 165hp 2.0-litre petrol engine and six-speed torque-converter automatic transmission of the preceding generation.

There are three trims for each body derivative including C (969,000 baht), S (1.069 million baht) and P (1.198 million baht). While seven airbags are standard across the range, it’s the P version that gets over 10 driver-assist features.

These prices represent increases of some 20,000-50,000 baht over the outgoing model. The price-led E trim, once sold at 857,000 baht, is not offered in the new 3 yet.

The 3 sedan goes into contention with the Corolla Altis which, in non-hybrid form, comes with 140hp 1.8-litre petrol motor and newly created GR Sport trim. It costs 999,000 baht.

Although Toyota doesn’t offer a hatchback version of the Corolla in Thailand, Honda is doing so with its C-segment contender.

The Civic Hatchback is available in only one spec: 173hp 1.5-litre petrol-turbo going for 1.169 million baht.
