Ardel Gallery of Modern Art presents "The Axe Handle", an exhibition of mixed technique prints by artist Nuratna Hawae focusing on the emotional insecurity among children.
The Axe Handle will be on show from tomorrow until Aug 5. The opening reception is tomorrow at 6.30pm.

Tension and violence can be felt through Thailand's three southern-most provinces, but never is it more harrowing than when it invades children's playgrounds.
This tension is the inspiration behind "The Axe Handle", an exhibition of mixed technique prints by artist Nuratna Hawae focusing on the emotional insecurity among children.
Nuratna was stunned by the problems in the south, particularly the effects on children, and has used the playground setting and toys and other playthings as the basis of the show at the Ardel Gallery of Modern Art.
She has distorted the symbols of children's imagination and playfulness, turning them into objects of violence to represent the effects on children's sub-consciousness, showing how they are scared away from the places they should be happy and carefree.
