Cross-region ATM withdrawal fees waived till Jan 3

Banks will waive same-bank cross-region ATM cash withdrawal fees from Tuesday to Jan 3.

Predee Daochai, chairman of the Thai Bankers' Association, said on Monday the move by the 15 member banks aimed to facilitate people travelling to Bangkok to pay respects to King Bhumibol Adulyadej in the capital.

Using an ATM card issued in a clearing region with a machine in the same region is free. But if the card is used with an ATM in another clearing region, a fee of up to 15 baht per transaction applies even though the machine is of the same bank.

"The bank will also make sure sufficient cash is available at the ATMs near the Grand Palace and the vicinities at all times during the period," he said.
