Shopee posted record sales on 9.9 Super Shopping Day, selling 187,606 items in one minute at its peak and tripling orders from last year's sales day.
The Singapore-based e-commerce site drew in record customers by offering 113 million deals on various products and had its best 9.9 day yet. Around 8 million Shopee users in Thailand took advantage of the offers, which included free shipping.
"The 9.9 Super Shopping Day exceeded all expectations," said Terence Pang, chief operating officer at Shopee. "This year, we hit new milestones as more brands, sellers and partners joined Shopee for our signature shopping event. We are proud to see 9.9 Super Shopping Day become a key date in our region's online shopping calendar."
The top performing brands of the day saw an average of 5,306 times increased traffic and 480 times growth in sales compared with a typical day.
L'Oreal Paris, 3M and Xiaomi were the top performing brands, while beauty and personal care, home and living, mobile and gadgets were the top categories. The best-selling items were baby diapers, light bulbs and air fryers.
The hottest keywords searched by Thai shoppers were bag, beauty and personal care and home appliances.
"We are happy to kick-start the year-end shopping season," Mr Pang said.
