Theppadungporn Coconut Co., Ltd., manufacturer and distributor of products under the “Chaokoh” and “Mae Ploy” brands, hosted “Theppadungporn Funding Year 13” event to grant a total of 10 million baht to 50 schools affected by inundation in the Northeast and North of Thailand, to be used to rehabilitate damaged buildings and utilities.
The severe flooding afflicted many schools, causing them to cease teaching for some time and operate at reduced efficiency after the water receded. The prolonged duration of the flooding caused great physical damage within the schools.
Seeing the hardships, Theppadungporn Coconut Co., Ltd. was motivated to get to work to resolve some of the issues under the rallying banner of, “The flood has gone, but kindness hasn’t.” The first priority was to immediately grant funds to help restore the schools to their normal condition and operations.
Damaged schools in urgent need were quickly identified to be granted funds. In all, 50 schools were selected, 27 in Ubon Ratchathani Province, 8 in Roi Et Province, 5 in Khon Kaen Province, 3 in Yasothon Province, 2 in Maha Sarakham Province, 1 in Kalasin Province, 1 in Si Sa Ket Province, 2 in Phitsanulok Province, and 1 in Phichit Province.
The funds awarded were used as follows:
- Renovating school buildings and rebuilding walls collapsed by flooding
- Restoring utility systems, toilets, electrical systems in school buildings and raising hygiene in school cafeterias
- Purchasing teaching and learning equipment, computers and durable goods
Theppadungporn Coconut Co., Ltd. first started granting funds and scholarships to schools in remote areas throughout the country some 13 years ago. In 2007, the company began to provide financial aid to Rajprachanukroh School before expanding to more schools in rural areas, especially those affected by natural disasters which were treated as urgent priority cases. The company duly donated a total of 179 million baht in scholarships and funds to over 766 schools.
“Theppadungporn Funding Year 13” could not happen at all, let alone be a success, without customers who support the company's products. Their purchases allow the company to act as a middle man delivering good things to schools in need. In the process, they increase educational opportunities for children and ensure effective teaching and learning, so that the students can fulfil their destinies as the future of the nation.
