Beware unusual road signs!

Beware unusual road signs!

Accidents can happen any time. But they are often avoidable if you don’t ignore some important street signs.

So EasyCompare would like to share with you some uncommon street signs you would misread at your peril.

1.Beware of falling cows: This sign warns drivers to beware of cows falling from overhead while driving. It’s similar to the beware of rocks falling signs you see driving through mountainous areas of  northern Thailand. The signs are necessary because of the open systems of managing highland livestock in many countries which make it possible for accidents to be caused by wild animals falling onto a vehicle passing by or onto the road. If this happens, it may cause you to suddenly swerve off the hillside. If you see such a sign, it is advisable to slow down.

2.Beware families crossing the road: This sign is unusual in Thailand but in some places, people are smuggled across borders, say between America and Mexico. Migrant families tend to try to hide from immigration patrols by quickly running past moving vehicles. As previously, it’s a good idea to reduce speed and be extra careful if you see this sign.

3.Beware moose!: In cold countries where moose live, they often appear from the bushes and walk down the middle of the road. You have to be on your guard as a moose can appear any time. This is for your own safety as well as that of the moose.

4.Raising bridge: This sign means you are approaching a bridge divided into two sections that are raised in order to allow tall boats and ships to pass. Therefore, when you see the sign you must be able to stop your car in time in case the bridge is raised.

5.Unicorn crossing: This sign is designed to caution drivers to exercise extra care, not because of the mythological creatures but because of horses.

6.Beware of surfers: Seeing someone cross the street carrying a surfboard is commonplace in some parts of the world. But even in those places this sign is necessary because of the added danger inherent in walking while carrying a large object like a surfboard. It can block visibility of the road ahead so you may not be able to see whether there is a car approaching on the other side of the road.

7.Beware of thin ice: It is definitely unusual to see this sign anywhere other than cold countries. The signs are shown when a river or canal becomes frozen over when it may be viewed as a shortcut. The sign is placed to protect both drivers and pedestrians. The ice may crack so people and vehicles would fall beneath the ice and drown.

8.Beware car collisions: This sign is usually exhibited in places where cars drive very fast. It is meant as a warning more for people crossing the road than drivers.

9.Beware turtles crossing: In areas with a lot of wildlife including turtles, road signs are erected to warn drivers against driving over them. The sign can be quite confusing for those seeing it for the first time.

10.A roundabout in a roundabout: These five overlapping circles around a roundabout that you might encounter driving in a city can also be confusing. Suggestion: it might be easier to use Google Maps to guide you.
