Domestic car sales shrank for an 11th straight month in April, tumbling 65.02% from a year earlier to 30,109 vehicles, as the coronavirus outbreak dampened demand, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) said on Wednesday.

Sales in March slumped 41.74% from a year earlier.

It was the 11th consecutive month of decreases after more than two years of strong growth.

In 2019, domestic car sales dropped 3.3% to 1 million vehicles, compared with last year’s 19.5% gain to 1.05 million, the highest level in five years.

It was the first contraction in three years.
