Krungsri-MUFG supports customers’ businesses to thrive despite COVID-19

Virtual business event finds 300 matches

Krungsri (Bank of Ayudhya PCL) recently joined forces with Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), Japan’s largest financial group, to organise Krungsri-MUFG Virtual Business Matching Fair 2020.

With the successful organisation of the business matching event for the eighth consecutive year, due to the COVID-19 situation Krungsri marked its first international business matchmaking through online channels by attracting over 200 entrepreneurs and established businesses from Thailand, Japan and ASEAN. Those participating also included regional organisations and partner banks of MUFG.

The virtual conference fell under the broader umbrella of Krungsri Business Empowerment which seeks to continuously enhance business opportunities and create growth prospects for Krungsri customers by providing insights through seminars and business networking.

Together the presenters facilitated over 300 successful business matches for creating growth opportunities in the Thai business sector.

Krungsri’s and MUFG’s collaborative provision of online advisory services to support commercial customers and enhance their prospects for foreign expansion testifies to the combined strengths of Krungsri’s local expertise and MUFG’s global network.

Krungsri-MUFG Virtual Business Matching Fair 2020 showed the power of collaboration between Krungsri and MUFG to provide differentiated products to commercial customers,” explained Mr. Pornsanong Tuchinda, Krungsri Head of Commercial Banking.

“Although the COVID-19 pandemic has affected international travel, virtual conferencing enabled us to still conduct online meetings and business matching effectively. In fact, it enabled us to increase participation and bring together more sectors.”

Another advantage of going online was making advisory services more convenient.
“A lot of travel time and cost was saved and yet we actually expanded the reach of the conference in terms of diversity and expertise.”

Krungsri-MUFG Virtual Business Matching Fair 2020 attracted at least 200 entrepreneurs, not only from Thailand but Japan and ASEAN countries, including the Philippines, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Indonesia which joined for the first time, as did Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.”

“Of particular note,” he added, “was the involvement of four major international investment agencies, namely, Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) Bangkok Office, Yokohama Industrial Development Corporation (Yokohama IDEC), Tokyo SME Support Center, and Aichi Prefecture.”

Five partner banks of MUFG were also involved, including Krungsri Laos, Myanmar’s Co-operative Bank Ltd., Vietnam’s VietinBank, the Philippines’ Security Bank, and Bank Danamon Indonesia.

The diverse sectors covered by Krungsri-MUFG Virtual Business Matching Fair 2020 ranged from consumer products, home furnishing materials, and medical devices to digital and innovation enterprises.
