PATA tells TCT to elect good president

The Pacific Asia Travel Association's (PATA) Thailand chapter is calling on the Tourism Council of Thailand (TCT) to elect a new president that can better represent industry interests and promote sustainable tourism development.

PATA said it will fully support a new president that understands the complexity of the tourism industry, can positively influence the government's tourism plan and is committed to refocusing tourism towards driving the country's economic, social and environmental development.

The organisation wants the new leader to be committed to sustainable and innovative domestic consumption to rebrand Thailand as a responsible tourism destination.

The new president must support initiatives like Tourism PLUS, a plan to partner tourism with other sectors like agriculture, creative industries and the tech sector to promote new tourism experiences.

PATA is a not-for-profit membership-based association that promotes responsible development of travel and tourism to, from and within Asia-Pacific.
