Triple T Broadband (3BB), an internet broadband service provider, has launched a TV box that enables customers to view TV content via the internet, as part of a push to increase average revenue per user (ARPU) and retain customers in its network.

The 3BB GIGATV box allows customers to watch TV and video-on-demand with the latest encoding technology from South Korea that optimises video clarity with full efficiency from fibre-optic cables.

The box features more than 30 channels, including movies, series, cartoons, sports, variety, documentaries and news.

It also comes with video on demand, HBO Go and Monomax, enabling users to view more than 40,000 movies and series anytime.

To own the box, users can pay 100 baht per month extra from internet package prices. The service is only for 3BB customers.

"3BB GIGATV customers will get a superior viewing experience with ultra-high definition 4K. Entertainment quality is guaranteed by HBO, the world leader in film and series content, owner of popular series such as Game of Thrones and Raised by Wolves, plus many more," said Sakol Chanmuang, general manager of 3BB GIGATV.

"There are also various sports such as WWE wrestling, car racing, football, bull riding, extreme sports, and fitness competitions such as Ninja Warrior."

3BB president Subhoj Sunyabhisithkul said the TV box is another step towards a complete entertainment experience that maximises the capability of a TV screen to be more than just a smart TV.

There should be various interactive functions such as voice search and personalised content recommendation, he said.

Variety of content has been selected based on data analysis to deliver entertainment for all groups and ages, said Mr Subhoj.

"This strategy will allow 3BB to add a new service to raise ARPU, increase internet usage satisfaction, and lower churn rate [service termination percentage]," he said.

This should also maintain the company's customer base in the long term, said Mr Subhoj.

"3BB GIGATV's growth is estimated at over 2 million boxes in one year," he said.
