Craft brands target Europe

As a bold move to promote the country's leading brands in the global market, the Commerce Ministry has unveiled 38 Thai brands on Meisterstrasse.com, the world's largest portal site of craftsmanly products to raise awareness of the excellence of Thai crafts and designs in the global arena.

Malika Boonmeetrakool Mahasook, adviser to Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit, said the move is also a part of the commerce minister's salesman policy to raise export revenue for the country.

Ms Malika said the launch on a global platform like Meisterstrasse.com will help create new trade opportunities for entrepreneurs, particularly for micro SMEs.

Major target customers of Meisterstrasse include Germany, Austria, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, Italy and Switzerland.

According to Ms Malika, joining the global platform will increase trade opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs and create acceptance of products from Thailand at the international level.

Thai brands with good quality and designs have been launched on the Meisterstrasse online platform in Europe.

"New entrepreneurs, SMEs and micro SMEs currently have greater export opportunities on online platforms. Each continent has different popular platforms and the ministry is responsible for seeking a powerful trading platform to support entrepreneurs as quickly as possible," she said. "To increase export revenue to the country, the ministry is also committed to providing training and knowledge to upgrade Thai entrepreneurs before going international."

More importantly, the Commerce Ministry, especially through the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), continually analyses opportunities in each market that entrepreneurs and startups, and the general public who are interested in trading can study and seek advice even during the Covid-19 crisis.
