Yunnan Lucky Air will link Kunming with Krabi next Monday to boost the tourism sector in southern Thailand.

The airline, which is a subsidiary of Hainan Airlines, will offer three flights a week from the capital of Yunnan province in southwestern China and the Thai resort town, with the first flight beginning on Feb 11, the Xinhua news agency said.

Krabi is the second most popular desination on the Andaman coast after Phuket for Chinese tourists.

China Eastern Airlines, Shanghai Airlines and Sabaidee Airways have regular flights connecting the Thai resort province with cities in China.

About 4.7 million tourists from China visited Thailand last year. The Tourism and Sports Ministry targets up to 5.5 million this year.
