PPTV in deal with German football club
Bangkok Media and Broadcasting Co, the operator of the PPTV channel, has clinched a deal with German football club Borussia Dortmund to become its official broadcaster in Thailand of a new reality show.
The company also got the rights from the club to broadcast official highlights of 42 Dortmund matches a year.
PPTV will bring more content to Thai viewers such as BVB World Magazine, which is now broadcast in more than 70 countries.
President Kematat Paladesh said PPTV was gearing up to become a top premium sports content provider with live broadcasts on the digital TV platform.
Its new partnership will allow Thai fans to get exclusive privileges and authentic souvenirs and enjoy special activities with Dortmund players in Thailand.
Earlier, PPTV secured exclusive rights to be an official broadcaster of a new sports reality show for Bayern Munich in Thailand.
Talented Thai players will be selected by world-class coaches to compete in the FC Bayern Youth Cup World 2016 next month in Munich.
"The partnerships with both Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have further highlighted PPTV channel's strong position on sports marketing," Mr Kematat said.
PPTV channel is also the official broadcaster of the Bundesliga in Thailand from 2015-17.
Despite the fierce competition, PPTV has successfully used its sports programming to draw larger audiences. It is expected to become a top-10 channel among the 25 digital TV operators.
PPTV was ranked 16th in March, the same ranking as in February, according to TV rating agency Nielsen Co (Thailand).
This year, PPTV will spend more than 1 billion baht on content including soap operas, sports and news to widen its viewer base and improve its TV rating to achieve top-10 status.
