Siggraph Asia 2017, the continent's biggest conference and exhibition on computer graphics and interactive techniques, will take place in Bangkok next week.

Surapong Lertsithichai, president of Bangkok ACM Siggraph, said Thailand has been given the honour of hosting this year's event, which runs Nov 27-30 at Bitec.

Siggraph Asia 2017 will showcase some of the world's top professionals and creative minds specialising in computer graphics and interactive techniques.

At the same time, the fair is expected to help improve local and global marketing channels in the digital content industry, including formation of international collaborative networks among digital content groups and entrepreneurs in various countries.

Such links will help promote future business partnerships and develop Thai digital content entrepreneurs to ensure they are prepared to enter the global market.

Entrepreneurs worldwide are invited to listen and discuss current situations and investment trends in Thailand.

The event will also focus on strengthening digital content intellectual property rights in the global arena by providing a business platform to serve the digital content industry, including initiating marketing promotion for the latest innovative products and services and continuously developing computer graphics and interactive techniques.

The event will be held under the concept of "The Celebration of Life and Technology", which mainly aims to show how technology can be used to transform how digital content is presented and introduce new frontiers for digital photography, research, science, arts, animation, interactive techniques and education.

This year's activities will emphasise promoting digital content knowledge, business networking and enhancing personnel capacity to drive Thailand towards becoming the computer graphics and digital content hub of the Asean Economic Community, as both industries are key to mobilising Thailand's creative economy under the 4.0 road map.

The event is expected to welcome 7,000 digital content professionals from various countries in the hopes of further developing and expanding Thailand's digital content industry.

Siggraph Asia 2017 is sponsored by several state agencies, including the Digital Economy Promotion Agency, the Electronic Transactions Development Agency, the Department of International Trade Promotion, the Commerce Ministry and the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau.

Sponsor groups for the event include Bangkok ACM Siggraph, the Thai Animation and Computer Graphics Association, the Digital Content Association Thailand, the E-Learning Association of Thailand and the Thai Game Software Industry Association.
