Counter service pay deal

Counter service pay deal

The Federation of Accounting Professions (FAP) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Counter Services Co Ltd on auditing bill payment via counter service branches nationwide.

The new channel for annual fee payment via counter services will make it more convenient for FAP members in Bangkok and vicinity as well as other provinces, said FAP president Chakkrit Parapuntakul.

Payment can be made at 7-Eleven and other shops that have counter service branches, as there are more than 12,000 such branches nationwide, said Mr Chakkrit.

Payment made through counter service is available 24 hours a day and will become effective today (Dec 15).

The number of accountants increases every year to serve growing demand from Thai entrepreneurs, he said.

There is also greater demand from newly listed firms on the Stock Exchange of Thailand, said Mr Chakkrit.

He said the one of key roles of the FAP is to register members and process applications for accounting licences. Licence holders pay an annual fee to the FAP according to its rules and regulations.

In the past, FAP members had the option of paying the annual fee via bank counters, ATM machines, mobile banking or credit cards.

Mr Chakkrit said the FAP has around 81,000 members and certifies some 9,000 accountants per year.

Veeradej Akkarapolpanich, vice-president at Counter Service, said the company's pay points number 12,000 branches nationwide, including more than 10,000 at 7-Eleven and over 1,000 at modern trade channels such as Big C and Home Product Center.

Some 10 million bills are paid through counter service per month and the number has increased every year.

"It is a convenient payment channel for customers because it is offered at convenience stores nationwide," said Mr Veeradej.
