HP Thailand is broadening its business reach to capitalise on growing demand for technology among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and tech entrepreneurs.

"In the next six months, HP will make an aggressive move to offer computing and printing solutions to SMEs and tech startups," said managing director Pavin Vorapuck.

A good many startups lack IT departments, and traditional SMEs need to embrace digital technology to differentiate themselves and add value, he said.

"This is a great opportunity for us to deliver digital printing solutions to help them design their product packages and help with production," Mr Pavin said.

Moreover, the rise of digital transformation has driven businesses to increasingly adopt the "Device as a Service" (DaaS) model. The paid subscription base will become more accepted than procurement and managed print services.

"We have the HP Financial package, which offers competitive rates for DaaS and has been picking up momentum in recent years," Mr Pavin said.

HP also continues to focus both on core technology (computers and printers) and future business in 3D printers. Thailand is one of a few countries in Southeast Asia where HP has introduced 3D printers through a partnership with Metro Systems, a local enterprise.

Mr Pavin said demand for 3D printing in healthcare and education keeps growing, with security printing gaining popularity because of the workforce mobility and urbanisation.

For consumers, mid- to high-end notebooks with security capabilities, gaming computers and augmented/virtual reality capabilities are other key areas because of the growing popularity of e-sports.
