C.P. Group hails Thai Asian Games & Asian Para Games atheletes

Charoen Pokphand group (C.P. group) hails the success of Thai atheletes at the Asian Games and Asian Para Games 2018 in Indonesia

With its food and telecommunications support for the athletes C.P. Group is delighted to see the athletes garner so many medals

Having jointly provided food and telecommunications support to Thai athletes during The 2018 Asian Games, also known as Jakarta–Palembang 2018, held from 18 August to 2 September 2018, and The 2018 Asian Para Games, held from 6 to 13 October 2018 in Jakarta, Chaoroen Pokphand Group, including CPF, C.P.ALL and True Corporation, couldn’t be more chuffed that the atheletes did Thailand so proud.

"C.P. Group was delighted to join with Thais nationwide in supporting Thai athletes competing in the Asian Games and Asian Para Games 2018 in Indonesia," said Mr. Kachorn Chiaravanont, Member of the Executive Committee, Charoen Pokphand Group.

C.P. Group synergized its potential under CPF, C.P. ALL and True Corporation to provide food and telecommunication support to athletes, officials and media throughout the tournament.

"We saw that sport science, both in terms of technology and food innovation, plays a key role in building athletes’ strength, so C.P. Group selected 12 nutritious, clean, safe and delicious menus to boost the athletes’ physical and mental strength."

The effort also complemented the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

"Thailand is considered the Kitchen of the World and CPF is part of that," noted Mr. Narerk Mangkeo, Executive Vice President of Charoen Pokphand Foods Plc (CPF). "So we spread the word by concentrating our resources as a producer of safe and nutritious food to world-class standards for the benefit of our athletes competing at the games."

He noted that menu highlights included C.P.’s Glass Noodle with Baked Shrimp and its Shrimp Wonton. Not to mention Panang Curry Chicken with Rice, Chicken Breast, and Roasted BBQ Chicken with Honey. Other favourites among athletes included Chicken Green Curry with Rice, Stir-Fried Chicken Basil with Rice, and Shrimp Wonton in Tom Yum Soup.

"All the menus we offered are halal-compliant, so people of all religions can enjoy them. Above all, the nutritional value of the dishes gave our athletes the strength to compete successfully at the highest level and bring glory to the Thai nation."

The effort reflected C.P. Group’s prowess and reach in Thailand.

"Through our 7-Eleven convenience stores we provide high-quality ready-to-eat meals to support Thai people and with our Asian Games initiatives we ensured that Thai athletes were not cut off from their supplies," noted Mr. Banyat Kamnoonwatana, Assistant Vice President of C.P. All Plc.

True Corporation also joined the mission to spur the morale of the Thai athletes by allowing them to communicate conveniently with home.

"We provided TrueMove H roaming SIM cards, considered the best 4G in Asia-Pacific, to facilitate the country’s athletes, coaches, officials and media to make phone calls, receive calls, send messages and use non-stop data services when using roaming service in Indonesia," explained Dr. Papon Ratanachaikanont, Executive Assistant to Chairman of the Executive Committee & Chief Brand & Communication Officer of True Corporation Plc.

Meanwhile, True launched "True Cheers Thai", a campaign to channel the cheers of Thai people to the games arenas. The campaign enabled the sending of pictures and text messages via social media with hashtag #TrueCheerThai #CheerThaiTogether, cheering the Thai competitors onto excellent performances for the country.

Moreover, C.P. Group companies ran an inspirational advertising campaign, dubbed "Historical Moment", reminding Thai people of great moments from the kingdom’s sporting past when Thai athletes won medals at the games and brought honour and prestige to the country. Then as now they are moments when all Thais unite as one.

"Every medal won by our athletes and the pride their victory brought to our nation led all Thais to come together and our hearts beat as one," explained Mrs. Rungfa Kiatipoj, Head of Sustainability Development Special Project, Charoen Pokphand Group.

All the efforts paid off. Thailand finished 7th out of 44 countries at the Asian Para Games with 23 gold, 33 silver and 50 bronze medals. In addition, Thailand won 11 gold, 16 silver and 46 bronze medals at the Asian Games, ranking 12th overall among the 46 participating countries.
