Chinese logistics and delivery company Best Inc (BSTI) has chosen Thailand as the 15th country for the firm's delivery service to capitalise on the growing e-commerce market.

Best is expanding its business in Thailand, which has a growing e-commerce sector and is a major business and commerce hub for Asean, said Richard Zhou, senior vice-president and general manager of BSTI.

"In particular, the younger generation is shopping more online," Mr Zhou said.

He said Thailand's strong e-commerce potential makes it the perfect location for the launch of its new delivery service, Best Express.

The Best Express delivery business unit is situated close to Suvarnabhumi airport and spans an area of 10,000 square metres.

Jason Qian, chief executive of Best Inc Thailand, said he is confident the company offers the best integrated supply chain services in the country.

"The one-stop, full-service solution will empower small and medium sized businesses to meet ever-increasing consumer demand," he said.

Best recognises Thailand's strong e-commerce potential and aims to offer affordable deliveries nationwide.

The company' sorting centre has automated sorting conveyor belts to improve efficiency and lead time. Parcels are delivered with a lead time of one day in Bangkok.

"Best Inc strives to maintain our position as a global integrated supply chain service provider serving local needs," Mr Qian said.

"We bring state-of-art technology through our strong IT and R&D capabilities to local markets and we aim to build better logistics solutions to help Thai companies go global."

Best Inc was founded by former Google vice-president Johnny Chou, and created with US$183 million (6.02 billion baht) in registered capital to become the predominant integrated supply chain service provider in Asia. Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba is both a major shareholder and customer.

"Our global business delivers over 2 billion parcels each year, with cutting-edge delivery services," Mr Zhou said.

Best Inc offers services and deliveries in 15 countries, including the US, Germany, Australia, Britain, China and India.
