Auto output up, exports down

November automotive output and local sales were up but exports declined on economic problems in buyers' countries.

The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) on Wednesday reported the country's automotive output in November with a 3.49% rise to 197,020 units.

The FTI's automotive industry club said overall car output from January to November stood at 1.99 million units, a rise of 9.1%.

The local sales in November rose by 21.2% to 94,614 units and also grew by 8.8% month-on-month, driven by healthy economic sentiment in the country and newly launched models. Overall car sales also grew by 21% to 928,129 units over the first eleven months.

Automotive exports in November dropped by 9.64% to 93,108 units from economic contraction in the Middle East, Oceania, North America and Europe. The export value in November dropped by 11.04% to 48.09 billion baht.

Automotive exports from January to November increased slightly by 0.13% to 1.045 million units and the value for the period fell by 1.05% to 547.47 billion baht.
