B.Grimm Power Plc, which has the most capacity among small power producers in Thailand, has begun commercial operations at three solar projects in the country with a combined capacity of 10.83 megawatts (MW).
The three are the Chon Daen agricultural cooperatives project with 2.25MW in Phetchaburi province, the WVO project with 3.58MW in Chachoengsao, and the Ban Na Doem agricultural cooperatives project with 5MW in Surat Thani.
Preeyanart Soontornwata, president of B.Grimm Power, said the three projects will supply electricity to the Provincial Electricity Authority under 25-year power purchase agreements.
"Three solar projects have started, and B.Grimm has another four solar projects under development," she said.
"B.Grimm's solar power development projects have made headway, in line with all plans to consolidate capacity build-up."
Ms Preeyanart said the remaining four solar farms with a combined capacity of 20MW were successfully synchronised with the Metropolitan Electricity Authority's system, and are due for commercial delivery tomorrow.
With the latest addition from the seven solar farms, B.Grimm is closing 2018 with a combined capacity of 2,076MW, up by 26% from the previous year, strengthening its position as one of Thailand's leading private power producers.
Ms Preeyanart said B.Grimm's solar energy projects in Vietnam, with total installed capacity of 677MW, have seen satisfactory progress in construction.
The Dau Tieng 1 and Dau Tieng 2 solar projects in Tay Ninh, southwest Vietnam, have a combined capacity of 420MW.
The projects will be the largest solar facilities in Southeast Asia. B.Grimm said the projects are 42% complete.
The 257MW solar power project in Phu Yen province, on the south-central coast of Vietnam, is 36% complete and scheduled for commercial operation in mid-2019.
When accounting for B.Grimm's new power generation projects in 2019, including the solar farms in Vietnam, the Nam Che hydropower scheme in Laos and the waste-to-energy scheme, B.Grimm's capacity portfolio is projected to rise to 2,737MW, a 34% jump from 2018.
"This will enable B.Grimm to achieve targeted revenue of 42 billion baht in 2019," said Ms Preeyanart.
With various power sale agreements in hand, B.Grimm's installed capacity is expected to surpass the 3,000MW mark in 2021.
B.Grimm is exploring new investment opportunities in South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Malaysia and the Philippines. The quest is part of B.Grimm's goal of growing total installed capacity to 5,000MW by 2022.
The company operates 36 power projects -- 15 co-generation plants, 18 solar farms, two hydropower plants, and one diesel generator, with a total capacity of 2,056MW. More than 1,070MW in incremental capacity is scheduled for development over 2019-22.
