VietJet posts 24% growth in revenue

VietJet Aviation Joint Stock saw a 24% increase in total revenue last year from 2017, earning 71 billion baht, of which 49 billion was from air transport (a gain of 49%).

Auxiliary products and services grew 57% over the same period and contributed nearly 27% to total revenue in 2018.

As of December 2018, the airline operated more than 118,000 flights during the year, transporting more than 23 million passengers on 66 international routes.

VietJet flies on 39 domestic and 66 international routes, including to China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar and Cambodia.

The airline started to operate new A321neo jets last year, saving up to 16% on fuel costs. VietJet's fleet includes 64 modern aircraft with an average age of 2.8 years.

VietJet also last year opened its Aviation Academy, which is equipped with a Flight Simulator Complex in partnership with Airbus. The simulator is approved by the European Aviation Safety Agency, offering an international level of training and education in Vietnam.

Throughout the year, VietJet conducted 231 training courses for 8,083 trainees, including 96 safety and security training courses for 2,358 trainees.

VietJet is a member of the International Air Transport Association and holds the IATA Operational Safety Audit certificate. The airline was named Best Ultra Low-Cost Airline 2018-19 and awarded the highest ranking for safety with seven stars in 2018 by AirlineRatings.com.

Forbes magazine listed VietJet as one of the 40 most valuable brands, and Airfinance Journal listed the airline as one of the top 50 airlines for healthy financing and operations.
