2nd Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge ready for Tuesday opening

TAK: Preparations have been underway for the opening of the second Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge linking Thailand's Mae Sot district and Myanmar's border city of Myawaddy on Tuesday.

Therdkiat Chinsoranand, the mayor of Nakhon Mae Sot Municipality, on Sunday inspected the preparations. The construction of the bridge, spanning the Moei River between Ban Wang Takhian in tambon Tha Sai Luat of Mae Sot with Myawaddy in Myanmar, has been completed.

The second Mae Sot Boundary Post will open alongside the bridge. 

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi will attend the opening ceremony, to be held in the middle of the bridge.

Tents and mobile toilets have been erected on the Thai side of the bridge for peoplewitnessing the ceremony. 

The preparations are expected to be completed on Monday.
