Pattaya songtaew driver returns lost bag, cash to tourist

CHON BURI: A songtaew driver in has been praised after returning a rucksack containing 50,000 baht cash and other belongings to an Indian tourist who left it in his vehicle in Pattaya city.

Sayant Lakthong, 39, returned the bag and cash-filled wallet to Sachin Yadav, 22 at the Pattaya songtaew cooperative office in Bang Lamung district on Friday.

Mr Yadav was accompanied by four Indian friends whe he arrived to collect his bag and contents. He thanked the driver profusely and gave him a cash reward.

He and his friends had only just arrived in Pattaya on Friday, the first day of their four-day vacation, he said. The driver’s honesty impressed them a lot.

Mr Sayant said he picked up the five tourists in front of a hotel on Pattaya beach road and took them to the entrance of Walking Street.

After the passengers left he found out that one of them had left a bag behind, Mr Sayant said. He took it to the songtaew cooperative office. He was able to track down the owner and arranged for him to pick it up.
