The bid results for three contracts to run duty-free shops at four airports and develop commercial space at Suvarnabhumi airport, where duty-free giant King Power emerged as the winner, are expected to be reviewed by Airports of Thailand Plc's (AoT) board of directors next Wednesday, according to the AoT.

Wichai Bunyu, AoT senior executive vice president for business development and marketing, said a meeting on the AoT revenue panel, which looked at the bidding results yesterday, agreed to forward them to the board.

After the board endorses the bid results, it will submit a report to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) before the contracts are formally signed, he said.

King Power won the bid to operate duty-free shops at Suvarnabhumi, Phuket, Chiang Mai and Hat Yai airports and to develop commercial space at Suvarnabhumi, in a concession split into three contracts, he said.

With the highest score of 96 out of 100, King Power beat two contenders that received scores of 86 and 84.

The other contenders were a consortium of Bangkok Airways Plc and Lotte Duty Free and a Royal Orchid Hotel (Thailand) Plc venture.

The 10-year concession starts in September next year.
