In a lively scene from the story app, the Stone Carver, the hero, now in the form of a hard rain, makes a wish. Children can manipulate many objects in the picture as they listen to the story.

Anyone who has an Ipad and young children will know that they mix very well. There is something about little fingers, colourful moving pictures and amusing sounds that just naturally go together.

As the child moves beyond the toddler stage, they want something more and, apart from games, of course, stories are just what are needed.

Parents certainly will prefer stories to games because of their learning value and a local company, Woof Woof studio, has just released a story app worth checking out.

The story is called Stone Carver and it is based on an old Chinese fable teaching children to value who they are. Three languages are available, English, Thai and Chinese.

The stone carver's wish is granted as he becomes the wind.

The story is beautifully illustrated and there are plenty of animated objects to keep your child's itchy fingers occupied.

At the moment, the app is free for downloading from the Apple iPad store, but only for about one more week. An i-Phone version should be available soon and an Android app is on the drawing board.

This YouTube video shows the app in action.

There is more to come. Check out what is and will be available here: http://www.woofwoofstudio.com/
