Official description

Prem Tinsulanonda International School is a leading co-educational boarding and day International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. Located on its lush 100-acre campus set in the foothills north of the ancient and historic city of Chiang Mai, Thailand, Prem is the first IB World School in South East Asia to offer all four IB programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP), and the IB Career-related Programme (IBCP).

Since its inception in 2001, Prem Tinsulanonda International School has been dedicated to academic excellence. At Prem, students from all over the world receive a rigorous international education that provides them with the global competencies required for a future of increasing cross-cultural interdependence, rapid technological change and critical environmental challenges.

To complement their academic work, students also participate in Exploria, the after-school co-curricular activity programme available from Grade 1 to Grade 12. Exploria aims to expose students to many different possible activities which explore creative, physical, academic and service challenges.

As a four-programme International Baccalaureate boarding, and day, school, we offer every child an appropriate educational challenge, which is augmented by an innovative boarding curriculum. Prem boarding apartments offer flexible boarding options for students from Grade 3 – Grade 12. Our boarding residences provide a warm, homely atmosphere that fosters a sense of “family”, on a beautiful, safe campus that fully supports the diverse needs of our students, and this is very important when our students come to us from so many different cultural backgrounds.

Prem graduates have gone on to study a variety of courses that include medicine, engineering, liberal arts, economics, business management, mathematics, the arts, environmental science, biochemistry and international relations. Prem alumni have been welcomed into leading universities around the world.

The Prem Class of 2018 has achieved the outstanding IB Diploma results in the May 2018 examination session with an average IB Diploma score of 34 points (IBO, July 2018), which is 4 points above the normal world average.

The school is a member of the International Schools Association of Thailand (ISAT), East Asian Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS) and of the Boarding Schools Association (BSA).  As of the end of 2017, Prem has also officially joined a network of innovative schools in 50 countries in the Round Square organisation that share a passion for experiential learning built around six IDEALS of learning: Internationalism, Democracy, Environmentalism, Adventure, Leadership and Service.
