Thailand reported four new coronavirus cases on Sunday and no new deaths, taking the total number of infections to 3,081 with 57 deaths since January.

The new patients had arrived in Thailand from the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia and have been in state quarantine, said a spokeswoman for the government's Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration.

Local infections have slowed and over the last two weeks, around 80% of new cases were Thais who had returned from abroad.

The country will on Monday begin reopening more businesses classified as medium to high risk, including cinemas, gyms, spas and massage parlours.

Thailand has 10,500 spa and massage businesses registered with the Health Service Support Department. They have 100,000 employees altogether, according to the CCSA.

The deputy department director-general on Sunday said all operators are required to strictly follow the guidelines provided by the agency to prevent possible infections as clients use their services.

"Service providers are required not to talk to clients. Conversations must take place only when necessary," he said.

Another department official said all massage and spa businesses have to conduct self-assessments every week and send the results to the agency.
