Here comes Mr Postman

Anucha Nuchphadung has been a postman for 18 years. He works in Bangkok's Bang Bon, Bang Khunthian and Chom Thong districts and he can't do his job on foot.

Since there are many canals in the area, he delivers the mail from his own small boat.

Even though we now have email, he is still very busy. For many people along the canals who live far away from city streets, his service is very important. Many people in the area are old and they smile when they get mail from him. He smiles too.

Mr Anucha likes working on water. The area where he travels is very green and beautiful, but the job is not easy.

He has to be careful and know when it is high tide and low tide. He also needs to know how to fix his boat when it needs repairs.

When Mr Anucha gets near a house to deliver the mail, he blows a whistle. This lets the people in the house know he is coming, but it also tells the neighbourhood dogs he is there.

He has been bitten many times and he has the scars to prove it.
