This week: vaccine delays, home test kits and Bangkok under curfew

In a bad week for vaccines, the government dumped Sinovac as the second dose in favour of AstraZeneca.

Amid concerns over its efficacy against the Delta variant, studies reported that Sinovac antibodies halve every 40 days.

Malaysia also announced it would no longer buy Sinovac after its current supplies are used.

AstraZeneca's week was no better, as the company delayed delivery of 61 million doses of its vaccine until May next year.

The company will deliver only one-third of its Thai output to Thailand, with the bulk being exported.

Bangkok and other provinces hit hard by Covid entered what the government refused to call a 'lockdown'.

Malls are closed, restaurants must close by 8pm and a curfew is in place from 9pm.

Covid-19 antigen home test kits should be available for sale over the counter by next week.

Their prices range from 200 baht to 700 baht each.
