Showcasing Taiwanese children's illustrators
Children's picture books by seven Taiwanese illustrators will take centre stage during the TK Park International Children's Picture Book Festival 2018, which will kick off on Saturday and run until April 8.
Held under the theme "The Growth Of The Brain And Imagination", the festival will gather a selection of 32 picture books for young readers from Taiwan, Japan, European countries, the US, Thailand and other Asean countries. Many of them won national and international awards and some are best-sellers.
Among the highlights will be illustrations from two award-winning books by Taiwanese author/illustrator Chiu Chen Tsung: Above The Ground, Under The Ground and Above The Pond, Under The Pond. His works were also selected to showcase during the 2006 Bologna Children's Book Fair -- Illustrators Exhibition in Italy.
Also flown in to showcase their works will be Ali Ginger and Shu-Ti Liao. Reputed for her gift in drawing, Ali's picture book, Sometimes, was selected to be showcased at Italy's Bologna Illustrators Exhibition 2012. Shu-ti, meanwhile, will bring to Bangkok the illustrations from her Adventure At Night, which won the Macmillan Prize in 2015.
Nutrada Kittikhundecha and Patchara Punthanakul, winners of Nanmeebooks' Waenkaew Award, will conduct an illustration workshop for children on Saturday and on April 7, respectively. Both will run from 1-4pm.
