Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra presents the annual "Latin American Music Night" concert featuring brilliant masterworks from the southern continent of America, at Mahidol University's Prince Mahidol Hall, Salaya campus, on Friday July 5 at 7pm and Saturday July 6 at 4pm.
Set to join the orchestra as guest soloist in this special performance will be Argentinian pianist Alexander Panizza, known for his nuanced but virtuosic tone. Under the baton of Brazilian maestra Ligia Amadio, they will render the scores of South America's musical giants.
The show will open with the beautiful and mysterious Abertura Concertante by Brazilian composer Mozart Camargo Guarnieri. A master of the 20th century, he developed a musical style that encompasses both his native roots and a skilful compositional technique that continues to impress to this day.
Both Amadio and Panizza will light things up in the sparkling Piano Concerto No.1 by Argentinian composer Alberto Ginastera, hailed as one of the most important 20th-century classical composers of the Americas.
The repertoire also includes Bachianas Brasileira No.7 For Orchestra, written as a tribute to the genius of Baroque master JS Bach by Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos.
