Carl St Clair. Mahidol University's College of Music

American conductor Carl St Clair will lead the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra during the "Luminous Gestures" concert at Mahidol University's Prince Mahidol Hall, Salaya campus, on Friday at 7pm and Saturday at 4pm.

The programme features two repertory standards -- Beethoven's serene and poetic Piano Concerto No.4 In G Major, Op 58 and Shostakovich's most arousing Symphony No.10 In E Minor, Op 93, as well as Thai composer Narong Prangcharoen's 2014 composition Illuminating Journey.

Set to deliver her gentle and warm sound through what is regarded as one of the central works of the piano-concerto literature will be Latvian pianist Dina Yoffe, whose concert activities are well known throughout many countries in Europe, the ex-USSR, Israel, Japan, the US and Canada.

Graduated from the Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Music in Moscow, she performed with outstanding orchestras from many countries and gave recitals at famous events in Poland, Germany, Italy, the US, the UK, Italy and France.

Conductor St Clair has been music director of the Pacific Symphony for nearly three decades and is widely recognised for his musically distinguished performances, innovative approaches to programming, and commitment to outstanding educational projects. He is an active guest conductor and has appeared with numerous orchestras in Europe, Israel, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan and South America.
